The tragic accident in which five-year-old Jacob dies fundamentally changes the lives of many people, because those involved in it drive away without even stopping. Yes, you can run away from the scene of the incident, but how to run away from the past? This question does not give rest to even the mother the dead boy, neither those responsible for the accident, nor the policemen, who, having started the investigation, circle the wrong paths. Only by stopping and looking into the eyes of the past, the heroes of the novel get what they seek: punishment for the guilty and release from the burden of guilt for the rest.
