The Prussian officer Karl von Clausewitz thoroughly studied the history of campaigns and military campaigns from 1566 to 1815 and based on this material created his own military philosophy, which he set forth in the treatise "On War". This work is considered a model of strategic thinking: many of its statements are included in almost all military encyclopedias. The book contains excerpts from this unique work, which demonstrate the depth of the author's thoughts and observations.
