AJ Fikri's life did not turn out as expected. His wife has died, his bookstore is barely afloat, and a rare edition Edgar Allan Poe's debut collection of poems has been stolen. A man withdraws into himself, causing pain to people who care. But unexpectedly, someone appears in his bookstore - a two-year-old curly girl in a pink overall - and the bookseller's life changes, acquires meaning, filling the small universe of Alice Island with happiness.
